risk communication

Thursday, September 13, 2007
No biases included.

I know change is hard to accept, but it would be easier if one is open. It would not help if it would be welcomed with a perspective of protest.

I know I should not expect too much, but for this issue, I have been disappointed by the different reactions (which are actually quite common). Of all the people who I thought would be rational about this, I did not expect that you would be one of them.

Throughout the years, substantial changes have been implemented. So far I have seen their progress. It is true that initially (as it is now) these were rejected, but in time, gradually, people adapt. In the end they realize that it is actually good.

This is development. Open your eyes and your mind (if necessary, even your heart). One of the problems of development is the acceptance of the intervention by its stakeholders. This is the reason why skills in conflict resolution and proper communication are important. It is always hard to fight status quo.

I would love to see where this would lead to. Basta, I'll be holding on to my principles.

Again, no biases.

perspectives

If you're optimistic, it's called "encouragement"
If not, then you may see it as "pressure"

"I hurt because I have been refusing to bend. Pain breaks me down so that I can be reshaped. If it's really pain, if it has come to that, then there is no getting out of it. Nothing I do works. It will grip me until I am transformed." - Hugh Prather, Notes on Love and Courage

Tinaya ako ni JenTan

Sunday, September 02, 2007
Wala pa ako sa kalahati ng 42-page paper ko, pero dahil stressed na stressed na ako (to the point of literally err. never mind) gagawin ko muna ang pinagagawa ni JenTan sa akin, dahil lab ko siya hehe.

In the 8 facts about you, you must share 8 things that your readers don’t know about you. Then at the end you tag 8 other bloggers to keep the fun going.

* Each blogger must post these rules first.
* Each blogger starts with eight random facts/habits about themselves.
* Bloggers that are tagged need to write on their own blog about their eight things and post these rules.
* At the end of your blog, you need to choose eight people to get tagged and list their names.
* Don’t forget to leave them a comment telling them they’re tagged, and to read your blog.

1. Ambidextrous ako, pero dahil tamad akong i-practice ang kaliwa, kanan lang ang ginagamit ko. Pero kung trip ko lang ginagamit ko rin ang kaliwa. Astig e.

2. Paikot ako kumain ng: cookies, sandwich, burger, and the like. Hindi ko alam kung bakit. Theory ng isa kong friend ay dahil nasa gitna ang lahat ng sarap. /:)

3. I play the flute. :) And I plan to take up classes again next sem.

4. I write my own quotes when I text people. (Boo, but I seldom do it now).

5. Mahilig ako sa bags at jackets. Yey.

6. Shiftee ako sa DS. Pumasok ako sa Ateneo as a Lit-Eng major, pero nag-shift ako second sem of my sophomore year. At tsaka nga pala, fourth choice ko ang DS sa listahan ko. (Puro nasa SOH ang mga naunang choices ko: Lit-Eng, Lit-Fil, CW [CW nga ba o Hum?]). Ayun.

7. Naka-group yung mga pangalan ng tao sa phone book ko sa celphone (e.g. A-Chris Lacdao = A is for ANI Core; ds3-Kiwee = ds3 is for DS na Junior, etc.).

8. May common denominator ang last crush at current crush ko. Hahaha. :) Pero hindi ko sasabihin kung ano yung common denominator dito kasi giveaway yun sa identity nila. Hahaha. :x

I tag:

1. Fatima Catangui
2. Ivan Jacob Pesigan
3. Carla Duran
4. Bea Siojo
5. Yssa Alemania
6. Tin Aquilizan
7. Vinia Datu
8. Taty de Leon
