Anakin and Frodo

Tuesday, June 30, 2009
Parallel characters. I made a PPT presentation last night on them. Now I want to watch LOTR and Star Wars. I wonder who has DVDs. Pahiram!

I've been wanting to blog since the other day (yikee, back to blogging na talaga). But got kind of busy. Tapos yesterday, I hung out at Starbucks-Lee. I brought Andoy with me (yup, it's working again, but sometimes it doesn't, got a lot of bugs) to work on modules for CoSF. Liza said that there's free Wi-Fi there, but unfortunately I couldn't access much. I could only open FB and Plurk. Haha. Great. I was able to open my blogspot, but couldn't open Blogger to post. So there. Sad. Haha.

Going to TMC, MATI 1013 again tomorrow. It doesn't feel strange anymore. I dunno. Tho I've been thinking about when I'd stop visiting.

This is a nonsense entry. Sigh. What to write?

I want to overhaul my Multiply account. Though I don't know what to do yet. It's too colorful for me. Haha.

I want to have my hair dyed. I dunno what color yet. Hmmm. So excited.

Passbook nalang ang kulang sa aking application! Whoo. Gotta go to the bank later.

Ok, I don't know what to write anymore.

Later!

Sunday, June 28, 2009
Oh shoot, it's the second night I'm kilig over this. XD

Front of the Class

I watched a movie today, I've been wanting to watch it since the other day, but I was always out of the house or the showtime was too early, see, I don't have my own TV set. Since I spent the whole day today, I was able to catch it on HBO.

The movie is "Front of the Class" here are some pictures I got from the net:

Got them randomly from the net thru Google Pictures. The top one shows the character Brad Cohen (actually a real person) in the school he's teaching in, and the bottom one shows him with his Mom.

Grabe, I was really crying while watching. It was such a nice movie. It's about the struggles of a boy with Tourette Syndrome, and his working really hard to reach his life-long dream of being a teacher. Grabeng struggles. Grabeng story. It was so nice talaga.

I really appreciated his mother's support for him. Sobrang naiyak (haha, one of the many moments) ako when she was researching about her son's condition by borrowing books from the library. Eh di pa kasi uso internet no'n, so talagang effort. Pero ♥! Sigh. A mom would really do everything for her children. She's my favorite character (aside from the main character) in the movie. I love her! Cute cute how she was so happy to finally meet Nancy when they visited, and how she introduced her to everyone. Wheeee. Love.

I totally understood the father, too. How he was so hard on Brad. Sigh. Helplessness. Exactly.

Then his students! Those lovable bunches of love. :)

"What could you possibly learn from a disability?"

"It's not too hard for you, right?"

Kilig.

So, if you read the Wallpaper post, then you know where I was yesterday. But oh well, it wasn't bad. It was "refreshing", helped me think about things.

Haha, I don't know how to go about this, so maybe a list again, just like the other entry from last Thursday:

- My Dream Wedding
> Not too bongga reception, pero all out ang presentation sa Simbahan. The Rites are more important than the reception :)
> Guita will sing! Yey! Ilang taon na naming kontrata ito.
> Personalized Rites in Filipino? :) :">
> When I was in High School ata, I kept on saying that I would like to be married in Barasoain Church. Pero ang layo eh, not practical talaga. Pero any old church would do. Maybe yung church doon sa may Dominican College.
> But I want a Jesuit priest to officiate.
> I don't want to be a June bride. Probably a December or an August. I dunno. :) And it has to be a Sunday.
> I don't like the motif to be too loud. I hate it when the Abays wear too loud colors. Nagmumukhang jologs. Wah. :-S
> Probably something from light pink to light blue. Ewan. Bahala na :P
> Maraming kanta sa Misa! Gusto ko may projector pa rin, tho para makakanta yung mga tao. Ay, walang projector dun sa simbahan na sinabi ko kanina, so Misallete nalang na maayos.
> Haha. This is just so funny. :P Now, I gotta find my prince.

- I still don't like going to socials
> Eeek. I wanted to disappear for all the bloopers that I made. All time winner: "Bridesmen" Hahaha. Hay. I just really want to stay in a corner when there are lots of people >.<

- Kilig kay Lord
> Eh kasi. Kinanta ang theme song namin ni Lord na "Prayer of Rupert Mayer"
> "Because You will it, it is best. Because You will it, we are blest. Till in Your hands find rest. (and actually the rest of the words...)" - Blessed Rupert Mayer, SJ
> The fire is stiiiiill burning!
> :) :) :)

Ayun. Oh, and today we started fixing CoSF. We had a Pre-Planning Workshop before going to our Montessori Mass slot. I'm so excited for the next days. Got to prepare the modules.

"Till in Your hands our hearts find rest."

The gospels recently have all about been healing. Most significant was about the leper last Friday...

Holy Gospel of Jesus Christ according to Saint Mark 5:21-43.

When Jesus had crossed again (in the boat) to the other side, a large crowd gathered around him, and he stayed close to the sea. One of the synagogue officials, named Jairus, came forward. Seeing him he fell at his feet and pleaded earnestly with him, saying, "My daughter is at the point of death. Please, come lay your hands on her that she may get well and live." He went off with him, and a large crowd followed him and pressed upon him. There was a woman afflicted with hemorrhages for twelve years. She had suffered greatly at the hands of many doctors and had spent all that she had. Yet she was not helped but only grew worse. She had heard about Jesus and came up behind him in the crowd and touched his cloak. She said, "If I but touch his clothes, I shall be cured." Immediately her flow of blood dried up. She felt in her body that she was healed of her affliction. Jesus, aware at once that power had gone out from him, turned around in the crowd and asked, "Who has touched my clothes?" But his disciples said to him, "You see how the crowd is pressing upon you, and yet you ask, 'Who touched me?'" And he looked around to see who had done it. The woman, realizing what had happened to her, approached in fear and trembling. She fell down before Jesus and told him the whole truth. He said to her, "Daughter, your faith has saved you. Go in peace and be cured of your affliction." While he was still speaking, people from the synagogue official's house arrived and said, "Your daughter has died; why trouble the teacher any longer?" Disregarding the message that was reported, Jesus said to the synagogue official, "Do not be afraid; just have faith." He did not allow anyone to accompany him inside except Peter, James, and John, the brother of James. When they arrived at the house of the synagogue official, he caught sight of a commotion, people weeping and wailing loudly. So he went in and said to them, "Why this commotion and weeping? The child is not dead but asleep." And they ridiculed him. Then he put them all out. He took along the child's father and mother and those who were with him and entered the room where the child was. He took the child by the hand and said to her, "Talitha koum," which means, "Little girl, I say to you, arise!" The girl, a child of twelve, arose immediately and walked around. (At that) they were utterly astounded. He gave strict orders that no one should know this and said that she should be given something to eat.

A Playmate

Saturday, June 27, 2009
This is my email to teRina. Just want to post it here 'cause it's so happy:

I had a great time with Therese today. I really like spending time with kids. Just tell me if you want me to babysit. No fees! Haha.

I remember when I was a kid I wrote my own strories and made them into "books" by folding paper together. Haha, got to "live" through that again with Therese and her Houses story. Grabe, social stratification talaga. Haha. I got surprised about her explaining why the poor's house was dirty. I was just making her kulit when I asked "Why?" (haha, I do that to my pamangkins a lot. Why is such a powerful question). I had several "book of saints" too before, actually yung book ni Therese, sobrang tagal ko nang gusto ng ganon. Haha. Pero still haven't gotten myself a copy. Should've bought sa Book Fair the other day sa Mega. :P

When you left us sa office mo, Therese didn't want to let me go. As in! Ang daldal daldal. Pagkalabas mo, sabi niya "Don't text my mommy! Don't call her. She always makes people text her. Don't visit her again!" Hahahaha. Then she cut papers and made me a whale. So cute. Then when I told her I'm leaving, grabe ang hug niya, nakakapit talaga, as in nakakapit. Parang monkey sa puno. Ganon. :P Then she said, "Ok, you can go. I'm going to your house later" Tas sabi ko, "Eh do you know where my house is?" Sabi niya, "No, but my mommy knows." Sabi ko, "I don't think she knows." Tas sabi niya, "My daddy will get a map!" Haha.

Tapos sabi niya, "How about you just stay with me forever and ever? That way you will always see me and my mommy!" Sabi ko, "But my daddy will miss me. I have to go home." Sabi niya, "Then just stay with me for a day." Me, "But I don't have clothes, how about next time?" Her, "It's alright, we'll buy you clothes from the shop." Me, "Wow, you have a lot of money!" Her, "Nah, my Mom will buy you clothes!"

Hahaha. Tapos yun. She finally let me go. She's a little Rina, ang cute! She even said, "Come, I'll bring you to the door." HAHAHA! Eh diba you always always always make it a point to do that. :) Ang cute talaga. Pero separation anxiety pa rin, pagkalapit sa door, she again wouldn't let me out. So kuya Cholo teased her na he's gonna get Hello Kitty, so she ran to your room. Haha, I just snuck out. :)

Wallpaper

I dislike going to parties and celebrations where there are so many people. I dislike going to debuts, weddings, concerts, anniversaries, and all those. Heck, I didn't even have my own debutante ball! Hay. I dunno. I love my relatives, but as Blue said the other day, relatives sound like a duty. Kill me if you wish after reading this, but how can we say "no" to them? We super go out of our way for them.

Hay. I'm not complaining, errr, maybe I am. But this isn't really my cup of tea. I'd gladly go out of my way for all my loved ones, but just please don't do all this celebrations thing to me. :-S

Last night my choir and I went to an Uncle's wake, and led the praying of the rosary, and we sung. That I did without hassle on my part. Though it felt awkward not knowing my relatives, but it was heartwarming meeting them.

Hay, I don't know. Right now I'm debating in my head about all this issues if it's right to write about this. But hmmm. It's nothing personal. It's just something that I really feel. So don't feel bad if you're a relative of mine and get to read this. I guess I just don't like going to parties, that's all. Even to my closest friends, I don't usually attend their parties. Pero yun na nga, kapag kamag-anak, hindi pwede humindi.

Or is that just my perception?

Hmmm. I think that's another blog entry. I gotta prepare now for that wedding.

Ateneo is my happy place

Thursday, June 25, 2009
I spent hours in Ateneo today. But it wasn't all tambay, it was productive, too.

Lookies:
- Turn over money to Raph.
> Finally got my head off that!
> Saw Justin, too! I want to have a birthday party on our Dino's Day Out!

- Heard Mass with teRina and teMaita.
> Fr. Stein celebrated the Mass.
> Found myself not paying attention too much :( Just staring.

- Lunch with teRina.
> Nice view at Gonzaga Faculty/Staff Lounge.
> Wasn't too "talkative" today, but got to share naman.
> Got a new term from her, "Muni-Me". Haha.

- Saw Cams, Louisa, Xie, and Kristine.
> DS = <3
> I feel old.

- Dropped off the Press Release folders at DS Dept.
> Yey! That's one session din 'no!

- Went to OSCI.
> ate Tine (A.) oriented me for the INAF thing on July 4.
> I'm excited! Haven't done facilitating for some time. I think the last group session I had was last January for NSTP?
> The module for this year's INAF orientation is nice. :)

- Hung out with Therese in her Mom's (teRina!) office.
> Sat on the floor. Hehe.
> Helped her write and illustrate a book of her own. Shucks, I forget the title. Something about Houses.
> Read aloud St. Benedict's story to her. The last part of the story hit me hard!
> Discussed why "poor houses" are dirty. Grabe 'no? Children have their concept of social stratification already!
> The theme song of The Backyardigans got stuck in my head:

> Therese's separation anxiety. She wanted me to stay with her forever and ever! Haha. Cute.
> She gave me a whale!
> "I like you a lot" :) :">

- Met up with Kristine.
> Anak! 'Di ako emo! Yuuuuck.
> "Arguing" with her while deciding what/where to eat. Hahahaha. Ang cute.
> "They DO stop"--me referring to the cars when we step on pedestrian lanes.
> Tapa King. Tapa Queen. Tapa Prince. Tapa Princess.
> Swatch. Swatch. Swatch. Second place is a meal. Haha!
> Kwento lang. :) Yey.

Yun. I love it.

Ateneo is my happy place.

Rugrats Love

Wednesday, June 24, 2009
I'm blogging while Maxine is on my lap, making doodles on the back page of the May calendar. She constantly bugs me, grabbing my hands and trying to type into the keyboard also. My hands are actually now filled with ballpen marks. But I don't mind, I really don't. She shouts so I'd pay attention to her, so that I'd draw with her.

Eversince my Kuya had children (Matthew, Mikaella, and Maxine), everything became like this. Kids bugging me while I type. Kids bugging me while I play. Kids bugging me while I watch TV. Kids bugging me while I journal. Kids bugging me all the time. But I don't mind, I really don't. I can't watch TV much anymore, I mean, now I watch cartoons. Do you know the different aliens of Ben 10? Do you know the brothers Phineas and Ferb? Do you know the magic song so that Dibo could grant your wish? My Nintendo DS has games for those kids, and I can't really play my games when they're within sight. They'd surely charm me with their, "Ninang, can I play?" My journals are crumpled and have kid doodles. My sketchbooks also have their sketches. Haha, I think even while I was doing papers for school they tried to grab my laptop (when I still often used it) from me.

I don't know why I'm writing this. I just felt like a part of me felt Maxine so much when she ran toward me just a while ago. She was so scared of the howling dogs, and she rushed to me and held on tightly. I got scared for her, too. It's a different kind of feeling. I felt her feeling scared, but at the same time, I felt that I didn't want her scared. I wanted to protect her from being scared.

Hmmm. I love the Rugrats so much. They're all growing up so fast. Matt is in Prep now, Ella is talking too much, and Max expresses herself so well even if she's not talking yet. Everyday I wake up excited to hug and play with them.

Sigh. Love. :)

Some years ago, my http://jaymeeduran.blogspot.com/ was hacked by a spammer. My blogs were corrupted by stupid entries about viagra and those stuff. So I figured out a way on how to keep my URL, but I had to make a new blog. There wasn't an "import / export" blog yet then, and I had to manually transfer my entries one by one, losing the precious comments. Good thing now, there's an import/export option, and so I now have ONE official jaymeeduran blog. :)

So I'm fixing this blog now. I changed the layout (finally learned how!), but unfortunately lost all my widgets. Will fix them soon. :)

Oh, and just to keep the memory of that original blog that I made during freshman year in college:

Nostalgic.

Late

Haha, I cross-posted the wishlist from my Multiply blog. I typed the entry from Multiply (since I was doing the previous entry here). Turned out the entry about the book fair was posted later than the wishlist. Haha.

Book Fair

I went to the Academic Book Fair at Megamall today. I attended the book launching of Living Your Strengths from Claretian Press. Got invited by Miss Karen of the Hope Center. After the launch, I tried to do the viewing systematically, browsing from booth one onwards. But I got lost eventually, couldn't find the 30th booth.

I saw a lot of books that I wanted to buy, but they were so expensive! I ended up buying in Ateneo Press and Claretian Publications. Haha, I should've just went to Katipunan. I bought a guide book on the EIA. It was just PhP150. I don't know why, but I thought that maybe I could use it someday. Not necessarily for EIA, but for some Community Based work. Na-miss ko tuloy si pareng Cholo.

Again, MS Excel proved to be very useful. Someday I'd like to really learn about it. It helped me a lot with my encoding for the bibliographies.

I've been writing long entries in my journal. Hmm, now I'm not sure if they're really long or my handwriting is bigger. Haha!

Ok, I'm not making sense anymore. I shall post my birthday wishlist.

Yeahba.

Housework

Monday, June 22, 2009
I think I'd suck in being a "housewife" or any of those stuff. Though I could say that I wash dishes well, I am not yet capable of doing other chores. Today I spent most of the day in front of the computer. I was doing some encoding (which I finished already! Yey!). When Dad arrived, it took me a while before I prepared our dinner. Haha, I didn't actually prepare, because we just ate what was on the table. To my dismay one of the viands, and the fried rice was already not ok. Gaaah. I should've put them in the fridge during the afternoon. I should've done that because the day was so hot.

Blah. I don't know. A part of me wants to learn already, but a part of me just wouldn't care. Sigh.

BUM! (though I have a lot to do!)

Deep Discernment

Friday, June 19, 2009
And so I am crying, I just played "Pilgrim's Theme" and tears just flowed. I don't know, everything just seems so sudden.

I thought I was just dreaming, about all those emails coming into my inbox. Emails opening a new possibility in my life. Of course when I take one door, I have to give up passage into another. When I was fully awake, I realized that the emails were true. This possibility really exists.

What do I do now?

Ang Labo Naman Oh

Bakit ba ganon? Parang CHOOSE YOUR OWN ADVENTURE book lang siya na kahit ano piliin mo, pwede ka pa rin makabalik sa dating nangyari, with a flip of a page! That easy dude! Hay. Pero life's not like that eh. No piece of cake. You have to live through it. Cant spit it out if it tastes awful. You have to choose. You have to CHOOSE and live with it.

Katipunan Traffic and Princess Peach

Wednesday, June 17, 2009
(wow, back to blogging huh?)

I went with Dad to fetch Matt from school today. Guess what, the entire trip took us three hours. An hour to get to Ateneo, and two hours to get home. I don't know if it's the rain or if that's normal (haha, I don't leave Ateneo at 3:30PM, Umuuwi ako dati mga after 6 pa). And that's just AGS ha, AHS's classes are still suspended and will resume on the 22nd pa.

Hmm. I really fall asleep when I'm seated at the front seat of the car. Haha. On the way home, I fell asleep even before we reached EDSA! When I woke up, we were already in front of Cafe Ysabel.

Oh, I'm currently playing Super Princess Peach on my Nintendo DS (yup, I have a NDS. I bought it with my hard-earned salary haha). I like that game. Haha, "Women Empowerment"! The titles in the Super Mario Bros. series before all had the same theme of "saving the princess"--Princess Peach gets abducted by Bowser (Koopa), and Mario / Luigi saves her. It's always the female character getting in trouble, and always the male becoming the hero. But in this title, they swap roles. Mario gets abducted by Bowser, and it's up to the Princess to save him. Yey!

Ok, enough for now. :)

Out of Routine

Tuesday, June 16, 2009
I was supposed to take a diagnostic exam today, but the office staff was out of town, and would resume operations by Monday. Wet by the rain, I just figured I'll go back home. When I got in the middle of the overpass, I stopped to think if I'll just go to Makati to hang out since I wasn't going to do anything for the day. But nah, maybe I should go home and do some pending tasks I had for our book and for the choir.

I boarded the jeep and headed home. On the way I was debating with myself--should I go to an arcade to sing videoke? Maybe to the art galleries at Megamall. Or just hang out at Shang food court to write in my journal. Hmm. I'll decide when I get off the jeep at Shaw Boulevard. By the time the jeep reached Crossing I was the only one left. I didn't want to go down yet as I knew the driver was going to the terminal. He made a u-turn and to my surprise he didn't make a turn to go to the terminal. Ah, maybe he'll pass thru a different route. I sort of panicked when we were about to reach Guadalupe again. Haha, I was back where I started. I alighted the jeep and then decided that maybe I had to go to Ayala Museum. Why else would I be back there? So I boarded a bus.

I got off at Ayala and walked towards the Museum. Of course, I always go the longer way. On my way there a former student saw me and even took the trouble of getting out of McDo just to catch up with me. He told me that he just came from a job interview. Good for him. After the quick chat, I continued walking to the museum. When I reached the receptionist, she asked "Are you a student?" I then laughed and just answered, "No, but I am a member." With that, I think she panicked and prepared my ticket and brochures quickly. It was really funny, I guess not a lot of members visit everyday.

I think I spent about two hours in the museum. I just went around. I've been there before, but I still went around again. I liked the new exhibits of Carlos and Tabuena. Carlos' use of the color purple and red and the leaves made an impression on me. Tabuena's colors made me smile.

I left the museum but saw PowerBooks and so decided to look around. There were a lot of people inside reading. That's cool. Maybe if we had a nice public library a lot would hang out, too. Sigh. That's something that I wish. I saw the SALE shelves and spent most of my time there. I didn't find anything interesting, though. I passed thru Landmark and saw DVDs. Oh man. My weaknesses inside a mall are just two things: bookstores and movies. I scanned thru the titles and found Sabrina. I *heart* Harrison Ford! Ok, so I bought it. I know, I'm broke. It was on sale, anyway. Haha.

Ok, so I really decided to go home already. I went to take a bus, but the heavens poured. I didn't want to walk under the rain so I just took the train. When I reached my station I immediately went to Shang to take a drink at the foodcourt. Thank God for water stations. Haha. I didn't go around the mall anymore as I was already tired and was scared that I might buy something again. Haha. So I just bought meds and then walked to Star Mall to take a jeep home. Oh, funny, while I was at Mercury Drug, this lady was buying medicines for her dogs. I didn't know that dogs also took the same meds as people!

Eek, this is really a long entry. I just wanted to write about my different day. Haha. I always stay at home lately, so going to Makati is momentous. The ending is just me getting home and feeling all tired. :P Maybe after this I'll watch the DVD I bought.

Salut!

French Fries

Friday, June 12, 2009
Yesterday was a "French-filled" day. J and I watched French films all day (three, to be exact) at the French Film Festival at Shangri La. Then ate French Fries from McDo. Haha. I should've eaten French toast, too.

We watched these:

Dix-Sept Fois Cecile Cassard
400 coups
La Pianiste

Being influenced by conservative Catholic culture (oh super yeah, Catholic school all the way, and what family I belong to), I sort of "got sick" watching some of the scenes. I was just not prepared to see such things (yet?). But as my friend V mentioned, what liberation it brought.

We can't all just hide in our own "sheltered" worlds all the time. The movie is not pornography. It's a really decent film. It's all about perspective. All three films were great. I could say that La Pianiste is my favorite. I like the plot very much. The story is very real. It presents how sick everyone of us are. How we are all strangled by the society we live in. How society makes us sick. We have our own secret desires that the world looks down upon. We can't break free as culture says it's wrong. But should those reasons, being wrong in the eyes of society, keep us from being happy? Keep us from living our life?

Society drives us mad. Pushes us to the limits. It makes us want to turn the other way. Turn away. But we simply cannot. Though the fighter in us rebels--we hide our desires, we do them secretly. In turn our desires burn us down. Like a mad, struggling dog trying to break free from her chains, she is violently strangled.

Sigh.

Tambayan

Wednesday, June 10, 2009

Hiding

And we'll forever hide behind the darkness of uncertainty. Where everything is quiet yet deafening. Where everything is dark yet blinding. Where no ray of sunlight hits the ground.

Where nobody can see, but the eyes cannot be shut. Where the mind is constantly haunted by uncontrollable images. Where we constantly wish that the saying "Ignorance is bliss" were forever true.

We run, but we aren't getting anywhere. We're tired, but cannot stop. Controls are useless.

Are you hiding? Or are you lost? Are you out of control?

Bummer.

Sabi nila sa news kanina na kailangan nila ng PhP2M para maipalabas ito sa TV. Pwede rin naman natin i-repost nalang sa mga blog natin para makita ng lahat.

Di AKO, TAYO papayag.

Just

Just want to sleep til it's all over. Trying to reach it, but nothing seems to work. Nobody helps, nobody listens. Just blank stares. Just blank sheets. Just unanswered conversations. Unanswered calls.

I really hate social exclusion. As in HATE. I always tell my pamangkins not to use the word HATE because it's not really nice. But now, I'm using it. I hate social exclusion. Why do you have to do it? Why should it be there? Why did you even have to mention it in the first place? It makes me feel as if you don't like talking about it. It's as if you're ashamed it even happened. Parang napreso lang ah. Parang nakapatay lang ah. Ganoong level din ba yun? :( ang sad. Bakit kailangan pa ba ikahiya ang isang bagay na hindi naman masama? Kung totoo naman, bakit kailangan pang itago? Bakit kailangan pang maging ganito? Wala na.

I remember one of my best friends poke me when I told her I don't really care about those stuff anymore. Haha. Too bad. It's kinda sad, actually.

Gah. I really really don't like Korina Sanchez.

(ok, am I gonna be sent to jail because of this post?)
