freedom for and from

Wednesday, June 27, 2007
Mas naintindihan ko na ngayon kung ano ang ibig sabihin noon (na-encounter ko ito for the first time kay Fr. Dacanay sa Th131) dahil may concrete experience na ako with it. :)

We can be free when we let go of our freedom.

Hello DevSoc Member! :)

Thanks for volunteering to help in the recruitment! I really appreciate that you are giving your time to sit here and make sure that our fellow DS majors sign up in our home organization.

Here are some instructions for you:

When a DS Major approaches our booth,
1. Smile! (parang ganto → :D)
2. Give them an APP FORM + COMMITTEE DESCRIPTIONS (ask them to come back to pass the app form, if di umabot ng Thursday, they can submit it to the DS Dept, 3/f SocSci)
3. Ask them to fill up the E-DATABASE :) (o diba, sosyal)
4. Ask for an APP FEE of P50 (pakilagay sa cute na cash box, then put a tick mark on the tally sheet)
5. Inform the DS Major that our first GA will be on 11 JULY, 430 – 6pm @ TBA
6. Give them candies (mga 5 pcs hehe), and ask them to write on the freedom book. They can write anything (e.g. expectations, comments, messages, rants, raves, etc!)

Ayun! :)

For the shifts, please see the schedule. The contact numbers are also placed there (just so if there are problems, e.g. may class ka na, pero wala pa yung susunod! I-text mo na!)

Reminders:
1. Sound levels (sanctions apply) → During 50 minute interval, noise that can disrupt classes is not allowed. During 10minute interval, noise can be made.
2. Orgs should claim Recweek tally sheets from any COA/Recweek Information Booth.
3. Orgs must clean up at the end of the day (sanction applies) and no equipment should be left.
4. Orgs should surrender the filled up Recweek tally sheets to the COA/Recweek Information Booth from where they got their tally sheets by 5:00pm. The volunteers assigned in these booths should surrender these tally sheets to the Central Info Booth in Colayco Pav.
5. Only a maximum of 2 people can man the booth at a time. Individuals must log in and log out. Please don’t leave the booth unmanned ANYTIME (sanction applies).
6. Volunteers must always wear ID at all times. Volunteers are not allowed to pass on their IDs to other people. They should surrender the ID to COA information booth. (sanction applies)
7. Keep our booth clean all the time. :)

If you have any questions, clarifications, or kung kailagan niyo lang ng text-mate o kausap, contact niyo lang ako sa: 0915-xxxxxxx :) Thanks!

para sa birthday ko

Sunday, June 24, 2007
Gusto ko mag-spend time with my friends and family, pero hmm, gusto ko sana hiwa-hiwalay yung mga grupo kasi ewan.. Parang I want to give my attention to each group hehe. :) Basta.

Mass of the Holy Spirit

Friday, June 22, 2007
Huling Mass of the Holy Spirit ko kahapon bilang undergrad ng Ateneo, at ang galing kasi pareho ang sinabi Niya sa akin ngayong senior na ako sa sinimbahan kong Mass of the Holy Spirit noong freshman ako. :)

org

Tuesday, June 19, 2007
Nag-sign up ako sa ESS (dahil nakalimutan ko last year!) at sabi ni ate Mel (R.) sa akin "diba ang dami mo nang org? sasali ka pa?" at sabi ko sa kanya "gusto ko naman ulit maranasan yung maging new member, yung mauuto ng mga EB"

hehe. :)

:) Yey. This is for Guita! :)

Basta yun.

Nagkita kami ni (ate) Mel (Y.) kahapon. :) Ang ganda niya! Wala lang, miss ko na siya. May meeting siya with Fr. Ben kaya mga 10 mins lang kami magkasama. Ayun.

dissolved

Thursday, June 14, 2007
Two of my classes have been dissolved. O diba? Kaya I ended up in Fr. David's and Bro. Ody's classes (Ph104 and Th151 respectively). Ayun.

I'm really hoping that Dr. Clamor would be able to teach next semester. :) Sana ok na siya by then.

Ayun, sige magbabasa na ako ng The Republic. :b
God is all that I've got, and I hope I always remember that He is all that I need.

unang araw

In fairness ha, may point Siya.

:) Hold Me ang nasa akin.

We shall work for our Dream. We shall change the world. :)

Sige, inaantok na ako. Ang ganda ng CD namin. :)

I hope I don't get too affected with what happened with us. You disappointed me. You promised, but where are you now?

Oh my. In a few hours I will be having my first class in senior year. Ang bilis. College just breezed by, and it's my last year in Ateneo.

Oh shucks.

You are the salt and light of the earth

Tuesday, June 12, 2007
Since the whole Church is missionary, and the work of evangelization is a basic duty of the People of God, this sacred synod invites all to a deep interior renewal; so that, having a vivid awareness of their own responsibility for spreading the Gospel, they may do their share in missionary work among the nations. As members of the living Christ, incorporated into Him and made like unto Him through baptism and through confirmation and the Eucharist, all the faithful are duty - bound to cooperate in the expansion and spreading out of His Body, to bring it to fullness as soon as may be (Ep. 4:13).

Therefore, all sons of the Church should have a lively awareness of their responsibility to the world; they should foster in themselves a truly catholic spirit; they should spend their forces in the work of evangelization. And yet, let everyone know that their first and most important obligation for the spread of the Faith is this: to lead a profoundly Christian life. For their fervor in the service of God and their charity toward others will cause a new spiritual wind to blow for the whole Church, which will then appear as a sign lifted up among the nations (cf. Is. 11:12), "the light of the world" and "the salt of the earth". This testimony of a good life will more easily have its effect if it is given in unison with other Christian communities, according to the norms of the Decree on Ecumenism.

Pakikinig

Monday, June 11, 2007
(I think I've posted this twice already before..)

It is in silence that you hear.

D/C Talks

Development Studies Majors

Yehey.

At, hehe, naka-pink kami lahat. Hahaha. Namaaan.

Anyway, on a more serious note..

I'm very proud to be a DS Major. There was never a moment in my college life when I doubted if the choice that I did were wrong. I could say that all my life I've been exposed to social development work (even if I didn't know that it was really called that). Ever since I was a kid I would already do volunteer work for various humanitarian organizations, and I guess those experiences have enriched my interest for pursuing a career in Development Work. I believe, and we have been always told in DS, that dev work could not be only driven by the heart alone (ie. "bleeding heart"), but an important factor is also the mind. I should also be equipped with the skills necessary for the success of the action that I am providing. It cannot just be the desire alone. For example, I would just give out help to whoever that asks for it. That is not the proper thing to do. Yes, I may be helping the person now, but what about the sustainability of his welfare? Hmm, I'm getting too specific hehe. Anyway, basta yun.

The DS Majors have been often called "idealists" and people who are filled with "messianic complexes." Yes, we may be, but I am sure glad that there are individuals who are holding on and are continually hoping to achieve a better world that we are capable of having. We are the World Changers, as my juniors have said. :)

At sabi nga sa presentation ni Sir Land, “We believe that there is a world of good that needs to be done.” :)

Mikki and I after the ANI '07 Grad (syempre nakapagpalit na siya ng damit)

Sobrang galing na tao niya talaga, kaya I'm going to make sure that I take care of her, and that I show her the love that's due for her. :)

Lastly, she's one of the many reasons that I'm staying with ANI.

Happy Birthday dear. Love.

ANI 2007

Sunday, June 03, 2007
I missed a whole lot of stuff in ANI this summer, and I have about 60% chances of NOT being able to join ANI 2008 summer because of some plans.. :( Hay. That's life. There are some sacrifices that need to be done. I cannot do everything that I want, and the only best thing to do is to really discern what I am called to do. Is it ANI or some other thing? I don't know yet. WYD is still about waiting, so I cannot promise on that. I am just hoping now. There are a lot of things that are coming up now, and there are times that things can be so overwhelming already. For now I would just hold on to the memories of the people and the events that have kept me sane and alive.

The memories of ANI which have taught me how to genuinely love.

Dearest ANI--Salamat.

The meaning of genuine love

Scott Peck’s description involves 4 elements:
a. Teleological – genuine love can be distinguished and specified by its fruit or end-result – Spiritual growth
b.There is only one love that embraces both parties. One love should lead to the spiritual growth of both parties. It is not as though there are two moments of love: first I will love myself and then in a second and subsequent moment as it were, I will love the other party
c. Genuine love involves real effort. It’s not always easy. It’s not always driven by strong and sheer emotion
d. Genuine love is an act of the will; it should be an exercise of genuine freedom

from Th131 notes, Ch1 (Fr. Dacanay)

Kasi naman eh! :) dulot iyan ng 9am chat with Chris about responding with love. "What is the most loving thing to do?" I ask that question every time I do an action, yet more often than not I still am not able to do the action which is "more loving." I still have to learn a lot of things in life. I am not perfect, and I admit that I have done a lot of mistakes that I am ashamed of.

But I should not give up the fight to love. I am continually struggling to be able to do the most loving thing in every action that I do.

hay, but I admit, this struggle is not easy..

Friday, June 01, 2007
Yay, thanks to Kuya Jek, I'm now connected to Ateneo's wireless net. :)
