I'm stuck in level 29!

Dream

When I have the resources, I want to set up/ build an accessible psychiatric facility.

Ate Adet says that she can help me write the proposal. We could get funding for that! :)

In time.

Relieved

Thank God you're alright.

Where are you? I worry about you. :( Please let me in. I want to help, even in my littlest way.

Posting

Just passing time.

I'm in my parents' room, while they're upstairs, waiting for me. Naglalambing, we'll sleep in one room lang daw. Haha. And Daddy likes it in Kuya's room kasi, because there's a TV there. He said it's like a hotel. Haha. I'm still passing time here, savoring the internet. The router isn't set up yet, so I don't have access in my room (or anywhere else other than our main pc).

I want to have a productive night, and a productive Monday. I have things in mind, but I think that I'm too lazy to do them. Here's a list:
- Module Template (DMW Process chuva)
- My reflections on last week's conversations
- Journal

There. Right now I'm just looking around the internet, actually am sleepy na, but will stay a bit longer. I also just wanted to write here since it's been a while.

O siya! Kwento next time.

Spreading the Ignatian Fire

Tuesday, October 20, 2009
It's my first CLCP "big event". It was our National Assembly last October 17-19, and I could say that I pretty much learned a lot of things. Now I could say that I'd really love to be part of this Community. :) Iba eh.

A Letter from one of our Mentors

Tuesday, October 13, 2009

7 October 2009

To Our Dearest Students,

With the release of your class standing this week (either in this board or in your classes), we are freeing most of you from your academic obligations so that you will be free to do your moral ones.

Last week was a time of great pride for all Ateneans. As soon as the flood waters rose to calamitous proportions, we as a community responded with great generosity. By the thousands we came—you most of all—to respond to the need for relief of those whose lives were brought to a painful halt by the floods. So many of you and so much of your energies were gathered in doing good when and where it was most needed. If there is anything that will most genuinely mark our being Ateneans in this Sesqui year we celebrate, it is you passing bags and sorting clothes despite your own worries and pains. If only for that, I can say my work has a meaning.

Now that we are freeing you from your academics, we are calling you to continue that quiet heroism that you exhibited last week. When the floods rose, homes were ruined, the foundations of many lives lost, and psyches were hurt. Beyond being a time for relief, this is a time for rebuilding. Our task now is harder and costlier than relief, and that is why such a drastic step was taken by the VP and the deans. They have faith that if you are free to respond you will rise to the call of the moment.

This past week, I have heard many comments about how it might have been a mistake to let go of you this way.  Some people said that not too many of our population were affected and that we should just have moved on and not lingered in this drama. I don't agree at all: 150 faculty, staff and maintenance personnel and 1000 students were directly hurt by this. Multiply that to the many more who are disturbed by their worry and concern for those among the hurt that they love. I would say that this is a substantial number of our population.

I heard from some that if we let you go, most of you will just go back to your malls and your computers. But this is what I say to that: "I have been teaching in this university for 20 years and I know that it's probable that many of you will do just that. However, we need to free the energies of the responsible ones among you to come to the aid of our Ateneo family." Certainly we will lose many to cyberspace and the malls, but I believe that more will come with shovels, notebooks, ideas, and energies to help the wounded realize that there is life after the flood.

One remark I got was that we are babying you by absolving you of any more academic obligations. We should teach you to be tough by pushing you to persevere with your duties despite the hurting. The truth is that we are not babying you but challenging you to be strong enough to be able to rise to your higher duty—the infinite responsibility for the other.

And so our dear students, with the posting of these grades we free you. Know that your philosophy teachers have faith in you—that without reluctance or doubt, we let you go to respond to the call.

Be safe and come back next semester with the wisdom you will gain in the lessons ahead of you.

Love,

Agustin Martin G. Rodriguez

Blah blah

Tuesday, October 06, 2009
I just want to type and type and type til it looks like an entry. I know it will not make sense. Nothing makes sense at this moment, anyway. Blah blah.

What is happening? You ask, how are you? You ask, are you alright? You ask and ask and ask. You wonder, do we even give out honest answers? You wonder, should I even ask?

So what is happening? Darn, I have no idea. Or do I know? Or do I really not know? It's all a circle, ya know? Just type and type. Nobody cares. Just type and type. Wherever we go, whatever we say.

Let's just go. Go and go and go. Jump high, lie low. Make some noise. Stare into blankness. What is reality? Shrinking and shrinking. Do we ever grow? We wait, we wait, but what are we waiting for? Do we even have enough time? Oh shucks. Time? What is time. She said, "What is 'Time is gold'?" I answer, uhm, "Time is important?" without even thinking. What is important?

Do we know? Do we know what we value? Do we know? What makes sense? Blah blah blah. Do you get tired? How do you know you aren't tired? Why are there questions? Do you have answers? How will you get there? Do you know? Are maps accurate? What are lies? What is truth?

What is a circle? What is music? Words are meant to be said, words are meant to be expressed. Words are meant to be written down and read. Good words. Bad words. Crap. What is crap?

Where are we going? We're just running, and panting, and shouting, and making sense of things. Do we run enough? Does your shoes have holes yet? Does your feet have blisters yet? Are you still breathing? Are you still alive?

What is life? Oh man, there goes the magic philosophical question that everybody asks at some point in time. Do we have answers? Or is this it? Is this really it? Oh crap.

Let's skip that. Let's scrap that off the point. I know I'll just eventually get stuck there, not to mention that I am already stuck, so let's say get more stuck. Stupid most stuck.

Have you read enough? Have I written enough? This is actually fun. Not making sense, but sort of making sense. It's cathartic, and I don't care if you don't care. It's my stupid blog, and this is me. I don't care. I don't care if you'd get shocked. I don't care that you'd find out that this is me. Well, this is me. Hello world. Meet me. Love me. Embrace me for my whole broken self. For this crappy life that I am holding on to.

Probably things are just like this now. Probably answers would come. Probably not. Probably questions would remain forever. But to crap with it.

I'm staying.

Special mention to the Cabrieto family for taking me in last Friday-Saturday. Pasensya na sa lahat ng naabala ko. I love you all.

Thank God I've met Raqs already. I don't know what would've happened to me. More details to follow, now I have to prepare for Mass first.

Friends, please pray for me. It has been a crazy time lately. To the point of a trip to the E.R.

I love you all.

Memo to LS Community from Dr. Achoot, re: After Ondoy

Thursday, October 01, 2009
30 September 2009

MEMO TO: The Loyola Schools Community

FROM: Ma. Assunta C. Cuyegkeng
Vice President

SUBJECT: After Ondoy

For the past days, we have been hearing stories of loss and devastation
experienced by many members of our community. We share in their grief and hope
to share, too, in the rebuilding. This aftermath of Ondoy challenges the
University's traditional learning environment; however, it allows us to learn
and grow in different ways. Thus, the Deans, Associate Deans, representatives
of various sectors, and I have agreed on the following:

1. Unless otherwise announced by CHED, Malacañan, of the Quezon City
government, classes will continue until 21 October 2009, but there will be no
final exams.
a. The basis of the final grade will be the current class standing of the
student.
b. If a student wishes to raise his/her grade, s/he will have the option of
taking the final exam or fulfilling an equivalent requirement. The deadline for
completing INC or NE may be extended.

2. Classes can be used to deal with the aftermath of Ondoy, e.g., apply
knowledge, skill sets, and values to understanding and managing disaster,
rebuilding and rehabilitation of communities, or organizing and implementing
support systems.

3. We are encouraging everyone to assist affected members of the our community
by volunteering and assisting in any of the following activities:

a. Collection and distribution of relief goods (c/o Ms. Mary Ann P.
Manapat, Director of the Office for Social Concern and Involvement, loc. 5090,
5091, direct line: 426-1017, mmanapat@...)

b. Debriefing and counseling assistance (c/o Dr. Edna C. Franco, Chair of
the Department of Psychology, loc. 5260, 5262, efranco@...)

c. Accommodation or service assistance to affected members of the LS
community (e.g., community/house clean-up, food preparation, laundry, repairs,
transport, babysitting, sharing IT and learning resources, etc.) (c/o Ms. Marie
Joy R. Salita, Director of the Office of Administrative Services, loc.
5100-5103, msalita@...)

d. Medical and health assistance (c/o Dr. Raymundo S. Baquiran, Director of
the Office of Health Services, loc. 5110, 5106, lshealth@...)

4. We would like to get updates on members of our community who have not been
accounted for. You may contact Sanggu (0928 348 1686), Office of the ADSA (0928
503 1248), or Office of the VPLS (0920 914 2372).

I wish to thank all those who have given time, resources and service to our
relief operations and look forward to your involvement in the difficult period
of rehabilitation.
