sigh

Saturday, December 31, 2005
i was reading their sentiments, and i couldn't help but feel sad.. i felt that way because there was a void in me.. how come i didn't feel the same way as they did? how come in my second year here, still i couldn't feel it?

i really want to have more reasons to stay. (not that my reason now is shallow, i think my reason now is truly great), it's just that i want something more. it shouldn't be this way.

i hope things become better. it's hard to work with all these in mind.

i hope i'll feel the same way as them.

haay. still searching.

Maligayang Pasko! Ü

angels

little kids are angels.

i thank God for little kids. they just make me feel so nice. Matthew, for example, is a very gwapo and matalino angel sent to us. when he first called me "Ninang Jaymee," grabe, my heart melted. when he calls me "Love," i cannot explain the joy bursting from my heart. when i come home from school, i feel refreshed when i get a hug and kiss from him.

now, i can't wait til his baby sister/brother (don't know yet) comes to this world. our family would be blessed with another angel...

(and ate marie is also expecting! she's due to give birth today.)

nagsisilbi tayo, hindi dahil gusto natin, ngunit dahil tinawag tayo

Saturday, December 24, 2005

Simbang Gabi

kagabi ang huling Simbang Gabi sa Gesu. (pero hindi ko naman kumpleto eh)
Masaya ako sa Misang iyon. Ang daming biyayang ibinigay si Lord. (hehe, pero hindi pwede ikuwento rito)

Masaya ako.

*big smile*

J, your destiny is to be a Protector

haha, walang magawa kaya pinagtiyagaan sagutan ang mga kung anu-anong quiz sa internet

Whether you know it or not, this is the role that is most in tune with who you are at your core. As a Protector, you have an exceptional gift for guiding and comforting others when no one else is willing or able because you actually feel their pain as if it were your own. If you could insulate those you love from all hardship, you would consider that your greatest accomplishment. You offer caring and thoughtful advice that helps others heal and move in a positive direction, but you don't call attention to yourself, choosing rather to selflessly give to others in order to make the world a better place. This sense of duty and exceptional work ethic will get you far in life, however, it can lead to frustration when you don't get the appreciation you deserve. Remember to take care of yourself because if you feel good others will feel reassured by your steady, prudent, and methodical ways, and the world really will be a better place!

It is Christmas, Christmas that lasts forever

Friday, December 23, 2005
AND NOW GOD SAYS TO US what He has already said to the world as a whole
through His grace-filled birth:

I AM there
I AM with you.
I AM your life.
I AM your time.
I AM the gloom of your daily routine. Why will you not bear it?
I weep your tears; pour out yours to me, my child.
I AM your joy. Do not be afraid to be happy,
joy is the standard of living that is really
more suitable than the anxiety and grief
of those who think they have no hope.

I AM the blind alleys of all your paths,
for when you no longer know how to go any farther,
then you have reached me, foolish child, though you are not aware of it.

I AM in your anxiety, for I have shared it by suffering it.
And in doing so, I wasn't even heroic
according to the wisdom of the world.

I AM in the prison of your finiteness,
for my love has made me your prisoner.
When the total of your plans and of your life's experiences
do not balance out evenly,
I AM the unsolved remainder, which makes you so frantic.
This is reality, my love,
that you do not yet understand.

I AM present in your needs.
I have suffered them and
they are now transformed,
but not obliterated from my heart.
This reality, incomprehensible wonder of my almighty love,
I have sheltered safely and completely,
in the cold stable of your world.

I AM there! I no longer go away from this world,
even if you do not see me now.

I AM there. It is Christmas. Light the candles.
They have more right to exist than all the darkness.
It is Christmas, Christmas that lasts forever.

Social Awareness

Just this morning, while we were at the gasoline station, there was a taong grasa taking a "bath" using the station's water supply. Matthew was staring at the man intently, so I asked him what he was thinking.

"Matt, what's the man doing?"
"The mama (man) is taking a bath outside, because he has no house."

He paused and then added,
"Like the other bata, none house, only sleeping on the floor, wawa."

I was amazed at what he said. I didn't know that at his age, he was already observant of his surroundings. At his age, he knew that these people had no houses to sleep in, or even to take a bath in.

Sometimes we just pass these people by. We often just ignore them, sometimes even telling them to get out of our way. But really, if we tell them to get out of our way, where will they go? As Matt said, they had no houses. They slept on the floor. On the cold streets.

I often wonder, how could they survive? They sleep on the streets, with just a piece of carton to warm their backs. As much as I want to help them, I feel that I couldn't help them enough. The feeling of helplessness surfaces. When I see these people, I badly want to reach inside their hearts, but it's not an easy thing to do.

Hay, naguluhan ako.

TASK FORCE NOAH: Mindoro Relief Operations

Thursday, December 22, 2005

Dear Friends,

Continuous heavy rains spawned by several weather disturbances for the past week have caused severe flooding in Oriental Mindoro. This has
caused the protective dike surrounding the city of Calapan and the towns of Baco and Naujan to collapse.

As of 6 PM, December 19, nearly 20,000 families composed of 100,000 individuals have been affected and thousands have fled to 38 evacuation centers.

This is a flash appeal issued by the multisectoral Task Force Noah for canned goods, rice, noodles, drinking water, blankets, and medicines
(specifically for colds and diarrhea).

Donations in kind may be dropped off at Eliazo Hall, Ateneo de Manila University, starting today 20 December 2005, at 10 AM.

Cash and check donations can be left with the porter of Loyola House of Studies. Kindly address all checks to:
SIMBAHANG LINGKOD NG BAYAN (BPI Account # 3081-1111-61).

We are also appealing for volunteers to staff the task force center and help sort/ pack the goods, at the Eliazo Hall basement, starting today at 5 PM,
20 December 2005.

Please contact Bobby Guevara and/or Michelle Juan at 0920-9225674 for further information.

We urgently appeal for your support and prayers for all our affected countrymen.  Kindly forward this appeal to your friends and network.

Thank you.

ATENEO TASK FORCE NOAH
