Merry Pasko from DevSoc

Hello DS Majors,

We had a fun Christmas Party yesterday :)

Thank you for everyone who came. We're sorry we didn't push thru with the program anymore as we had "space constraints" hehe. :) But despite that, we hope everyone had fun and knew at least one new DS Major. Yey.

For those who took pictures, please give us a copy of the pictures so we could post them in our DevSoc Multiply site. :)

Merry Christmas and a happy new year to everyone.

Please don't leave me wondering out here in the dark. :(

Battery

Pa-rant lang!

Yung 100% ng aking laptop battery ay tumatagal na lamang ng ~20mins. Bakit ganon? May alam ba kayo kung ano ang mali? iBook G4 ang laptop ko.

Waaaah. Hassle..

Back to work!

secret

It's funny how people around us do not know that once upon a time I saw you differently. I thought it was over but this year I was reminded of things when people had started making fun of us. It just feels so odd because I've kept it a secret all these years and now even if things are mostly a joke, it brings a different feeling of awkwardness.

(sa mga nagtatry manghula at magkonekta ng mga entry, nope it's a completely different person, so stop guessing.. it's my first time to write about this person in my blog..)

Fw: UPDATE ON THE SUMILAO FARMERS’ CASE (Please pass to others)

Wednesday, December 19, 2007
UPDATE ON THE SUMILAO FARMERS' CASE
December 19, 2007

Yesterday, December 18, 2007 , the Office of the President issued an Order for the Petition for Cancellation and/or Revocation of the Conversion Order Covering the 144 hectares of prime agricultural land. The Order granted the petition of the Sumilao Farmers, consequently revoking the Conversion Order covering the land.

Despite this order, the Sumilao farmers are still disturbed due to the fact that the Order issued was UNCLEAR and SILENT on several crucial issues:

·   The order does not Stop San Miguel Foods Incorporated (SMFI) from continuing their land development/ construction and the destruction of the prime agricultural land. It is confirmed that up to now, SMFI continues with the construction.
·   The Office of the President has failed to simultaneously issue the Notice of Coverage and the Cease and Desist Order which the farmers have been asking since the start of their march from Bukidnon two months ago. This was one of the major reasons why they marched to Malacañang on December 17, 2007 .

According to Atty. Marlon Manuel, one of the farmers' lawyers, the order actually resolved nothing and could even be seen as favoring San Miguel "because they can use this to elevate the case in court and to continue with the development of the hog farm."

The farmers are uncertain of what will happen next; that's why they said they are prepared to stay until they get something concrete from DAR or from the Office of the President. Atty. Manuel further said that they are considering seeking a written commitment from the DAR and the Office of the President on the next steps they will be taking to meet the farmers' demands.

Tomorrow, December 20, 2007 , the Sumilao farmers will be marching from the DAR office at the Elliptical road, Quezon City Circle to the PACO CATHOLIC SCHOOL to meet and raise their apprehensions about the Order of the Office of the President to Cardinal Rosales.

A CALL TO ACTION

JOIN THE MARCH

Dec 20, 2007 (Thursday)
4:30AM
Assembly: DAR Office, Elliptical Road, Quezon City Circle

from DAR to the PACO Catholic School

The Sumilao farmers will meet Cardinal Rosales
to report the development of the case and to ask for assistance.

For those who may not be able to join the long march, you may proceed directly to the Paco Catholic School . You may join the Sumilao Farmers' Situationer/ Briefing at 6:30AM at the Paco Catholic School . Cardinal Rosales will celebrate a Mass for the Farmers and for all the people who are supporting this fight for social justice immediately after the situationer/ briefing.

Pag-ibig Ko

Sunday, December 16, 2007
Music and lyrics by: Charlie Cenzon, SJ
Arrangement: Paolo Paculan
Soloist: Trin Panganiban-Custodio
Flute: Jay Gomez
Acoustic guitar: Paolo Paculan
(from Hangad)

Hindi ka kailangang magbago
Kahit ito'y mas ibig Ko.
Hindi ka kailangang magsikap nang husto
Upang ika'y ibigin Ko.

Iniibig kita, manalig ka sana
Ako'y kapiling mo
Kahit ikaw pa ma'y mapalayo.

Kailan magwawakas ang 'yong pagtatago?
Ako'y maghihintay sa 'yo.
Lumapit ka lamang ang puso Ko'y hagkan;
Pag-ibig ko'y walang hanggan.

I am not in control

The past two nights, while on the road, TJ Y. and I have been trying to talk about and also avoid "post-college" stuff. The thought of "where we'll be next year" both scares and excites us.

I was quite certain months ago that I'll be doing disaster management work for the next five years. I have appreciated its importance that I said that it would be my advocacy. Yet the past weeks have been difficult for me. I still didn't know how to go about things. I still struggled explaining what I was doing, and what I was going to do. I researched and read on a lot of literature written about disaster management but found myself too overwhelmed. Reading about the impact and effects of disaster on people is too much (lalo na kung may pictures pa.. shyet).

It's hard. I don't know when I'll be prepared to really work on this. Seriously, its giving me bad dreams. :(

Mahirap maging emotionally unstable sa ganitong mga pagkakataon.

Pero ano nga ba talaga ang gagawin ko?

My JJ

Saturday, December 15, 2007
Ayan kasi, si Kat Arandela nag-post ng litrato. Ninakaw ko tuloy ang iba haha. Dalawa lang, sige, magdadala na ako ng camera sa school ulit para maraming litratong bago. :P

Ito ang dalawa:

Medyo blurred ito haha. Kuha ito nung last daya (ata) ng 112 namin. Whee, ansaya.

Ito naman ay isa sa mga collar days. Haha, pero pansin niyo, deviant ako. Di ako naka-collar. Yeah. :) At girls ng JJ lang ang kasama haha. :b Uy, mag-collar day tayo ulit. Tapos picture! :)

Kelan ang Christmas party natin blockmates? Sana makasama na ako this year haha. Last year kasi papunta akong Bicol non kaya di ako nakasama.. Ayun. Sige, balik na ako sa research ko.

Postponed Church Procession to Monday (Dec. 17) 5:30am

Friday, December 14, 2007
December 13, 2007

Peace.

President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo AGREED TO MEET the Sumilao Farmers in Malacañang Palace on Monday ( December 17, 2007 ) at 11:30AM .

In this light, we are hereby MOVING the CHURCH PROCESSION to escort the Sumilao Farmers on Monday ( December 17, 2007). This is also a reaction to the lame DAR resolution issued today (Dec 13, 2007) pre-judging the case naming San Miguel Corporation as the land owner and allowing them to proceed with their developments which then continue to damage the land. Details are as follows:

          Date:                               December 17, 2007 (MONDAY)

Place of Assembly:          DAR Office (Elliptical Road, Quezon City)

          Start of Procession:         5:30AM

From – To:                     DAR Office to Malacañang Palace

Please wear white and bring your rosary in solidarity with the Sumilao Farmers.

Let us all be one with our farmer-brothers and sisters from Sumilao in their fight for social justice.

"Moved by those who suffer….

                            Moved by those who struggle…

                                                       Moved by the Spirit…"
