Yehey.
At, hehe, naka-pink kami lahat. Hahaha. Namaaan.
Anyway, on a more serious note..
I'm very proud to be a DS Major. There was never a moment in my college life when I doubted if the choice that I did were wrong. I could say that all my life I've been exposed to social development work (even if I didn't know that it was really called that). Ever since I was a kid I would already do volunteer work for various humanitarian organizations, and I guess those experiences have enriched my interest for pursuing a career in Development Work. I believe, and we have been always told in DS, that dev work could not be only driven by the heart alone (ie. "bleeding heart"), but an important factor is also the mind. I should also be equipped with the skills necessary for the success of the action that I am providing. It cannot just be the desire alone. For example, I would just give out help to whoever that asks for it. That is not the proper thing to do. Yes, I may be helping the person now, but what about the sustainability of his welfare? Hmm, I'm getting too specific hehe. Anyway, basta yun.
The DS Majors have been often called "idealists" and people who are filled with "messianic complexes." Yes, we may be, but I am sure glad that there are individuals who are holding on and are continually hoping to achieve a better world that we are capable of having. We are the
World Changers, as my juniors have said. :)
At sabi nga sa presentation ni Sir Land, “We believe that there is a world of good that needs to be done.” :)
